Calf Course

Calf rearing is often the second highest cost on the farm. Making small changes can have a significant effect on efficiency. This course covers gold standards throughout the milk feeding period and what targets can be achieved, with hints and tips on how to attain these.

The course is designed for anyone involved with the calves, from the person who feeds them to the manager who wishes to optimize calf protocols.

The George Farm Vets run regular APHA approved training courses in the artificial insemination of cattle. These take place over three days with small group sizes allowing for maximum assistance and supervision.

Drying Off Training

Intermediate Foot Trimming

Mobility Scorer Training

Attendees will qualify for membership of the Register of Mobility Scorers, subject to paying annual membership of £30 and taking an online exam. Membership is needed to be considered as a suitably qualified person for externally validated mobility scoring on certain milk contracts.
