We’re committed to providing high-quality care, and to being clear about what that care may cost.
While your pet’s wellbeing is always our priority, financial transparency is a fundamental part of responsible, compassionate care — especially in urgent or unexpected situations. If you have questions about fees at any time, please ask. We’ll explain potential costs upfront as clearly as we can, so you can make informed choices that feel right for both you and your pet.
Written estimates are available on request.
We know that many of you will be concerned with the findings and recommendations of the CMA’s investigation into small animal practices.
In short, they found that clients aren’t always given clear information about practice ownership, pricing can be difficult to compare, and costs can vary significantly between providers. Here at The George, we welcome the CMA’s proposed changes, aimed at improving transparency — including clearer information about who owns each practice and more accessible pricing. For you as a pet owner, this should make it easier to understand your options and feel confident in the care you’re choosing.
As an independent practice, the people who own The George are actively involved in the day-to-day running of the business and work closely with you and your pets. We already clearly communicate who we are, so you won’t notice any changes to signage or ownership. We also prioritise open, honest pricing and are already committed to the proposed prescription price cap levels.
You can expect to see some updates, such as more detailed price lists displayed in practice and online, and estimates being provided more routinely before treatment.
We will, of course, keep you informed about any changes as they are introduced. Overall, we support these changes, as anything that improves transparency and trust within the profession is a positive step for both clients and their pets.
